Make Impact Global Communications
History
How community work in Sierra Leone, Ebola awareness and the growth of Salone Messenger shaped Make Impact Global Communications.
The story behind Make Impact Global Communications
Years of supporting young people in Sussex Beach showed our founder what can happen when community work goes undocumented. Others assumed little was being done. That experience helped shape the agency’s belief that people should be able to see and understand the work happening in their communities.
Getting started in 2014
During the Ebola crisis, our founder connected on Facebook with a UK-based lawyer and media expert who wanted to contribute to Sierra Leone. They used social media to raise awareness among young people. Working on the ground as a messenger introduced our founder to editors, government officials, artists and community leaders.
From Salone Messenger to Make Impact
Salone Messenger began as a blog that shared positive stories from Sierra Leone and grew into a public relations firm. Over six years, our founder took on roles from messenger and writer to CEO, working with artists, startups, companies and NGOs. After more than a decade in the field, he founded Make Impact Global Communications to help people doing valuable work tell their stories and gain recognition.
Visibility and reputation
Today, Make Impact helps people and organisations share their work, manage their public image and respond to cyberbullying and online attacks.
